    CHILD LABOUR is a term you might have heard about in news or movies.It refers to a crime where children are forced to work from a very early age.The average age for child to be appropriate to work in considered 15 years and more than that.Child labour stops children form exercising their basic rights like education.Child Labour means the employment of children in any kind of work that hampers their physical and mental development, deprives them of their basic educational and recreational requirements.A total of 152 million of children-64 million girls and 88 million boys are in child labour globally, accounting for almost one in ten of all Children world wide.Nearly half of all those in child labour-73 million children in absolute terms are in hazardous work that directly endanger their health and safety.

    Importance of child labour

    1.Understand about child labours The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines child labour as work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular schools, and is mentally, physically, socially, or morally harmful. B. Global prevalence: Despite international efforts, approximately 152 million children worldwide are involved in child labour, with nearly half engaged in hazardous work 2.causes of child labour a)Lack of education, illiteracy and consequently the lack of awareness of their rights among them have encouraged child labour. b)Cultural and social attitudes: Societal norms and cultural traditions may normalize child labor. In some communities, it is considered acceptable for children to work at an early age, often in agriculture, domestic work, or informal sectors. These attitudes can perpetuate the cycle of child labor across generations

  • WEEK-1: I have visited the areas near our village conducted survey and gathered information.In a part of spreading awareness, we visited the houses in our area and explained them importance of education and suggested them few tips to lead a happy life.
  • WEEK-2: I explained about impacts of child labour and importance of child education.I came to know that many people lack awareness on child education and noticed that they are not going to school.
  • WEEK-3: As the survey of the first week, we gathered some information about child labour. we decided to improve the people thoughts and knowledge on children.
  • WEEK-4: raised some questions about that child labour problem. Agriculture in India is the largest sector where many children work at early ages to help support their family. Many of these children are forced to work at young ages due to many family factors such as unemployment, large families, poverty, and lack of parental education.
  • WEEK-5:In week-5 There are some causes roots which make children particularly vulnerable to child labour. Poor access to decent work Limited understanding of child labour.Lack of access to quality education.

    Objective

    Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation)Act is to regulate prevent and protect underage children from being employed in hazardous occupations and working conditions.In 1986 aim to eradicate any kind of child abuse in the form of employment and prohibit the engagement of children in any kind of hazardous employment who have not completed 14 years of age. It aims at the expulsion of child labour in all forms possible through a sequential basis of: Identification of children in child labour in the project area.
